“How he solves anything is a mystery.” Jonathan Ames (Jason Schwartzman), a struggling Brooklyn writer with a drinking problem, tries to cope with his recent breakup with his girlfriend by reinventing his life. On a whim, Ames decides to emulate his idol novelists Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler by posing as a private detective and offering his services through an online ad. Soon enough, he takes on various cases of unwitting clients, satisfying some while failing others. The HBO original comedy is based on Jonathan Ames’ short story of the same name, which is included in his book The Double Life is Twice as Good: Essays and Fiction and in McSweeney’s Issue 24. The cable series also stars Ted Danson (Damages, Becker) as George Christopher, Jonathan’s magazine editor, and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) as Ray Hueston, Jonathan’s best friend.

Blade: The Series
In the plot, Krista Starr returns from military service in Iraq to learn that her twin brother, Zack, has died under mysterious circumstances. Her investigation reveals that Zack was a “familiar” – a kind of indentured servant who agrees to do a vampire’s bidding in the hopes that his “master” will eventually reward him with eternal life. Krista’s search for her brother’s killer soon brings her face to face with Blade, as well as with the killer himself, Marcus Van Sciver, a powerful vampire and high ranking member of the House of Chthon. Smitten with Krista, Marcus decides to turn her into a vampire by injecting her with his blood. Krista is then approached by Blade, who injects her with the same serum he uses to control his own vampire instincts, and offers her a chance to help him avenge her brother’s death and bring down Marcus and the House of Chthon, and revealed that Zack was trying to do a sting operation with Blade. The two form a reluctant partnership.
Band of Brothers - TV Miniseries
Over the course of ten episodes Band of Brothers details, although sometimes in an exaggerated or condensed format, Easy Company's real-life exploits during World War II. The series begins with the company's jump training at its Currahee site in Toccoa, Georgia, and ends with Japan's capitulation. Major Richard Winters's (1918–2011) experiences are a primary focus, as he attempts to keep his men together and safe. While the series features a large ensemble cast, episodes generally focus on one character, following his actions during certain events (for example, the Siege of Bastogne and Operation Market Garden). As the series is based on real-life events, the characters' fate is the same as their real world counterparts. Numerous characters either die or sustain serious injuries, some of which lead to them being sent home or leaving the hospital to rejoin their comrades at the battlefront.
Arrested Development - Season 3
Michael again searches for his runaway father, George Sr. Gob receives an invitation to a father/son reunion outing, and believes it to be George Sr. trying to contact him. In reality, the invitation was meant to reunite Gob with Steve Holt, son of Eve Holt, a girl Gob slept with in high school. Meanwhile, George Michael and Maeby deal with their previous kiss by avoiding each other. Gob is excited to find out that he managed to get his puppet, Franklin, officially "in the system," meaning Franklin may be called for jury duty someday or be called to testify at a trial. In an attempt to remain in disguise, George Sr. joins the Blue Man Group. Michael discovers this and arranges to have his father placed under house arrest. George Sr. claims that he was set up by an underground British group.
Arrested Development - Season 2
Because of his father's latest prison break deception (a faked heart attack), Michael decides to leave his family and move to Phoenix, Arizona with George Michael, but discovers that due to the Bluth Company being under investigation he cannot leave the state. Lucille appoints Gob the new Bluth Company president, but since Gob proves utterly incompetent, the position's real duties revert to Michael. During the rest of the season Gob serves as figurehead president; Michael is still under scrutiny for George Sr.'s illegal activity. George Sr. is not, in fact, gone. After faking his death in Mexico by paying off the cops, George Sr. returns to the family model home, where George Michael discovers him and hides him in the attic.
Arrested Development - Season 1
George Bluth Sr., patriarch of the Bluth family, is the founder and former CEO of the Bluth Company, which markets and builds mini-mansions, among other activities. His son Michael serves as manager of the company, and, after being passed over for a promotion, decides to leave both the company and his family. Just as he makes this decision, however, George Sr. is arrested by the Securities and Exchange Commission for defrauding investors and gross spending of the company's money for "personal expenses". His wife Lucille becomes CEO, and immediately names as the new president her extremely sheltered youngest son Buster, who proves ill-equipped, as his only experience with business is a class he took concerning 18th century agrarian business.
Aliens in America - Season 1
High schooler Justin Tolchuck (Dan Byrd) is a sensitive, lanky 16-year-old just trying to fit in at his high school in Medora, Wisconsin. He lives with his well-meaning mom Franny (Amy Pietz) who just wants him to be "cool" and fit in, entrepreneur dad Gary (Scott Patterson) who is very laid back, and his newly popular younger sister Claire (Lindsey Shaw), who tries to raise her popularity in school. When the school guidance counselor, Mr. Matthews (Christopher B. Duncan) convinces the family to take in an international student, they accept him with the expectation that he will be a good-looking European student that will make Justin popular. Although initially dismayed when Raja Musharraf (Adhir Kalyan), a 16-year-old Muslim boy from Pakistan turns up instead, they soon warm up to him and although their cultures are different, Justin and Raja form an unlikely friendship that might allow them to get past the social nightmare of high school.

10 Things I Hate About You - Season 1
"The first thing you'll notice about 10 Things I Hate About You is that it's fairly different from the feature film of the same name, an updating of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. Instead it plays more like a cross between Bring It On and a John Hughes teen comedy. While the 1999 movie was set in Seattle, the ABC Family series takes place in Los Angeles. Newly arrived from Ohio, Kat (Lindsey Shaw) and Bianca (Meaghan Jette Martin) live with their father, Walter (Larry Miller, the sole holdover from the big-screen cast). Socially conscious Kat disdains the hierarchy at Padua High, while bubbly Bianca longs to join the popular crowd, so she starts by cozying up to bossy Chastity (Dana Davis), the head cheerleader. During these 10 episodes, sweet and nerdy Cameron (Nicholas Braun) tries to woo Bianca, while bad boy Patrick (Ethan Peck) and Kat pretend they don't like each other.
Blue Bloods - Season 1
Blue Bloods is a drama about a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. Frank Reagan is the New York City Police Commissioner and heads both the police force and the Reagan brood. He runs his department as diplomatically as he runs his family, even when dealing with the politics that plagued his unapologetically bold father, Henry, during his stint as Chief. A source of pride and concern for Frank is his eldest son Danny, a seasoned detective, family man, and Iraqi War vet who on occasion uses dubious tactics to solve cases. The sole Reagan woman in the family, Erin, is a N.Y. Assistant D.A. and newly single parent, who also serves as the legal compass for her siblings and father. Jamie is the youngest Reagan, fresh out of Harvard Law and the family's "golden boy;" however, unable to deny the family tradition, Jamie decided to give up a lucrative future in law and is now a newly minted cop.
Alphas - Season 1
The series follows five people, known as "Alphas", led by noted neurologist and psychologist Dr. Lee Rosen as they investigate criminal cases involving other suspected Alphas. Rosen and his team of Alphas operate under the auspices of the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, the criminal investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Defense. While investigating these crimes, it does not take the team too long to discover that a group known as "Red Flag", which was thought defeated and eliminated long ago, is using other Alphas to commit crimes. With the inclusion of Dr. Calder in the episode "Never Let Me Go", it was established that Alphas takes place in a shared universe with Eureka and Warehouse 13.
